What is an inbound link? It is a link that sends someone to your website. When I type www.google.com <– That is an inbound link for Google (clicking it will send you to Google’s webpage.)
So, you have been reading my post and trying to get all your friend to start linking to your website. Now you are wondering “How will I know when they have done it. When will I know if they have posted a linking to my website, blog, twitter, ect..”
I’m glad you asked. This is really easy to do.
First: Go to a Search Engine like
Yahoo
Second: Type link:www.yourwebsite.com No space between “:”and “w”
Two steps now you know who is linking to you
Why would you want to know this?
I just searched for links to the church bartender’s blog.
Step 1: Went to Yahoo
One link was from mattevans.cc to the churchbartender. Matt said, “[Our] idea was to contact
Michael Trent of
ThirdPlace Consulting to help us design a cafe and develop a strategy for using it as part of the church’s mission & vision. Michael’s innovative ideas and passion have been unbelievable.”
This is an excellent tool to see if anyone is blogging/talking about your church’s site and if you have any links pointing from undesired websites.
Tip: This isn’t golf, more links equal more influence.
You can also use Google, DogPile, MSN or any search engine
