“And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbor” Ecc 4:4

After I took the strengthfinder 2.0 test, I was reading the results posted previously.. Something rubbed me the wrong way. My number 1 strength was “Achiever.” Achieving??? Surely I have a greater strength than achieving. It was hard for me to express why i didn’t like that adjective attached to my name until I read this verse.

“And I saw that all labor and all achievement spring from man’s envy of his neighbor” Ecc 4:4

“Envy of his neighbor” jumped out at me.

I have always tried to out perform my friends. Whether it was having a cooler toy or skiing faster or killing a bigger deer. Any race I was in I anted to win. It (achievement) define me.  I’m not sure what the cure is but at least i have identified the problem.

Trying to out do your friends is impossible. Be content. That is my goal.

I thought about writing how achievement isn’t healthy when it comes to dating relationships.  Many labor to get a girl out of envy of a neighbor.  That’s a topic for another blog post.

A pastor friend of mine just got a great deal on local TV commercials for his church.  My first thoughts were, “Wow, that’s a total waste of time.” Instead of writing him an email on my thoughts, I decided to put them in a blog post.

After doing some research my thoughts have changed.

New Thought: Local TV Commercials are Effective!

But only if they appeal to your target audience.  Of course, to appeal to your target audience you first have to know them (or be really lucky). Appealing to your target audience will have to be covered in another blog post.

Recently, a radio show in my home town called Rick and Bubba interviewed a man named Robert Lee. Robert owns Cullman Liquidation.  His business increased when he ran a local commercial. It is short (1.15 min) watch this awesome local commercial by clicking here.

Questions for your local commercial:

  1. Are you painfully honest?
  2. Is the real “YOU” coming out?
  3. Do you have Rhett & Link’s help?
  4. How will your target audience respond?
  5. Most much will it cost?

If you want to watch behind the scenes of the  commercial click here.

Videos Strengths:

“These aren’t mansions, they come in 2 pieces”

“A bouncer in Birmingham hit me in the face with a crescent wrench five times,” he says. “And my wife’s boyfriend broke my jaw with a fence post. So, if you don’t buy a trailer from me, it ain’t gonna hurt my feelings.”

Makes the Big Ask!

So come on down to Cullman Liqudation and get yourself a home. Or don’t. I don’t care.

My question to the pastor:
