Last week, I had the honor of meeting Hugh Jacks.  The picture above (taken from camera phone) is in his living room.  Behind us are the tusk from an Elephant he killed in Africa, which is below a Kudu that would make Hemingway jealous. Above the Kudu is a giant elk.

Mr Jacks, retired CEO of BellSouth, is quite the hunter. He told me a story of hunting a Rocky Mountain Ram for 43 days. I was astonished at his passion for hunting (He had a whole room downstairs devoted to his “ram collection”).  Another 2 rooms were  filled with African animals and others from all over the world.

Why would someone care to have so many mounts (animals) in their house? I spent an hour or 2 listening to stories.  As we approached each animal, he would describe the unique challenge of that hunt and the people/relationships that came from it.  In short, he said, “This is a room of memories.”  He kept them around to remember the hunt.

We all go on adventures, but many of them are lost or forgotten. You may not be a hunter, but you do have times in your life that you don’t want to forget.  What have you used to  “Remember the Chase?”
