Sometimes life is just too important to blog about.  Don’t get me wrong, I love writing.  Communication is an important part of everyone’s life.  I’m just learning that you have to have priorities.  A great blog isn’t something to loose your [fill in the blank] over.

SOAP it up

Apr

How is your personal time with God?   Awhile back I realized my priorities were way out of wack.  I had more public time with God than private.  I didn’t want to tell anyone.  Funny how we cover up things like that.  Publically everything looked on track but privately I didn’t have time (or make time) for God.

I choose to make my private time with God a priority. Here was the method: pick one verse and then S-O-A-P.

Here is how:

S:  Scripture. Write out the 1 verse you chose, long hand in your journal.

O:  Observation. Simply write what you observed in the verse that made you want to write it down. Remember, you don’t have to be a theologian, just write what you saw.

A:  Application. Write down how this verse applies to your life? Nothing fancy, just apply it.

P:  Prayer. This is where you turn your Observation and Application into a Dedication. Once again, don’t try and be over-spiritual, just simply write a prayer to God of how your life will be different today because of what He’s spoken to your heart through this verse.

That’s it! SOAP. It’s as simple or deep as you want it to be. The goal of our Spiritual Life from God’s perspective is that you and I learn to be Self-Feeders and SOAP is an amazing way to do that.

I hate to state the obvious but my photo’s are not working. Once again a great reason to back up EVERYTHING before you transfer your website and add a new theme.

Health vs. Fitness

Health vs. Fitness

Of course health is a higher priority than fitness.  One only tries to get fit when their health is in danger.  John Maxwell said he only started going to the gym after he had a heart attack.

Look at the trend above.

Red line = amount of times “health” is googled

Blue line= amount of times “fitness” is googled

Apparently, at the end of every year, people in general care less about their health and more about fitness.

The purpose of this post is not to focus on this specific trend, rather to introduce my readers to Google Trends.

And ask the question: “What is important to YOU? What interesting trends have you found?”

I’m in my second job since graduating May 2007.  This makes me wonder if what I’m learning now will matter in 5,3 or even 1 year.
