Do you have to put a disclaimer on you emails?
I’m not sure but I decided to anyways. Maybe I should add “Or at the dinner table or baseball game or across the pew.”

Have you ever used Evernote?
Is it helpful?
A pastor just posted a new policy:
So here’s our current weekend snow cancellation policy in case you’re wondering.
Interesting policy. Growing up, we went to church as long as there was >51% survival rate. Rain, Snow, Sleet you were there.
What do you think? When do you decide to stay home from church?
I just saw this on a pastor’s blog: “We’re canceling church for tonight because … snow emergency! To all of my southern friends, this is life in Minnesota!”
Later he talked about Free PR (He meant “Publicity”)
“Years ago we canceled our midweek service when there was a huge snow storm and we didn’t even have a midweek service to cancel! True story! We were a smaller church with no midweek and I saw all of these churches listed on the scroll on all the major TV channels and also being announced on the radio and I though “Why not us!” Now of course, we didn’t have a midweek service but I still called all the stations and told them River Valley Church in Apple Valley was canceling all midweek service activities, just so we could get mentioned! I sat there with a big smile on my face as I watched our church get a ton of free PR! (It did cause some confusion however with our members wondering when we had started a midweek service!)”
I love what church planters will do to get mentioned.
Do you have a story about something you did to get free publicity?
First let me say, confrontations are not my strength.
I like to hike. If I walk up on (confront) a deer, I shoot it. It is a different story when the animal is bigger, like a bear, then I run!
Most have a similar reaction with people. However, they tend to shoot harmful words instead of firearms. Having a successful confrontation is more than simply, fight or fright.

Attitude- Have the right one. If you show up mad then you aren’t going to have a productive meeting. A gentle word turns away wrath.
Audience- Do you like to be called out in front of others? Most others don’t like to be either.
“If your brother wrongs you, go and show him his fault, between you and him privately. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother.” Matt 18:15
Confront one on one. This will not come naturally.
Alternatives- Don’t just come and complain. Bring alternatives.
Ron Sylvia’s uses this process to teach his kids how to win an argument. It is also a great thing for church planters to teach. If people have successful confrontation they tend to stick around longer. In case you didn’t know sticking around is a good thing for people to do at a church plant.

Thoughts on Tradition
I hated traditions growing up.
“Why do we do this?” “It is a tradition.” “But I don’t like it.” “Shut up, it is tradition.”
Tradition happens.
Every Thanksgiving 2 of my friends and I go to a movie. We didn’t plan on making this a tradition, it just happened. Year after year we continued to do the same thing. Now its fun, something I look forward to. It’s a tradition!
My views of tradition are changing.
Maybe traditions are not a bad thing. They happen over time while doing what you enjoy.
Christmas Tree Ride’n is another tradition we enjoy. It happens every January.
What tradition do you enjoy?
Don’t waste your time on custom labels. They are a WASTE OF TIME and end up in the trash wrapped around the bottle. Business cards end up on peoples counters. Bottom line there is a great chance it will stick with them.
This was another idea from an ARC Church Planter.
