Guy & Courtney WalkerI am the coordinator of Marketing and Development at the Association of Related Churches (ARC pronounced ark). ARC works has planted over 300 life-giving churches since 2001. The vision is to start 2000 churches by 2020.

This is my personal blog. If focuses on “church life.”  My mission is to help you gain influence and be effective while serving the local church.

I write on community, leadership, marketing and online strategy.  On occasion, I write about stuff that doesn’t fit neatly into one of these categories.

My goal is to create practical, life-giving content that you can put to work in your church and other areas of life. If you attend or pastor a local church —or aspire to — this blog is for you.

I typically post once a week. To make sure you don’t miss my newest posts, you can subscribe via RSS or e-mail.

My Biography
I have been a church attender for 28 years and counting. I still remember playing with the hamster in our nursery as a little boy. I prayed for Jesus to be my Lord while watching a Gospel Bill Video (created by Church on the Move Pastor, Willie George). I had a happy childhood while being home schooled in the country. Spent time outdoors on dirt bikes, hunting and fishing. Raised as a true country boy.

In 2007, I Graduated from Samford University with a degree in Business Management. Then worked with on the Walker Ranch with my parents. I laid barbed wire fence and helped build the house and barn.

I didn’t heard about “church planting” until attending Church of the Highlands. A friend of mine was starting a church. I joined the “launch team” and drove two hours away to Columbus, Mississippi. My small group and I would meet at the Highlands before day break and drive to help “do church” in the Malco Movie Theater. We unpacked the trailer, set up a stage & nursery, worshiped then packed it back up. Church planting was fun.

I was addicted to church planting after that. Shortly after I met Billy Hornsby. He was the president of the Association of Related Churches. They also had helped my friend in Mississippi. I was going to ask Billy if I could volunteer to help ARC and church planters but before I could he asked me if I would come on staff. I started on the first day of November 2008. Shortly after I was employee of the year. I planned and hosted “The Bug Conference – One Day Viral Marketing Strategy Event.” It wasn’t much but it was my start to help pastors to learn about social media. I’ve been helping start churches every day since.

I’m honored that God would use me to help start churches.

I hope to write a book one day.

I have been married to my wife, Courtney (follow her on Twitter @Courtney_Walker), for 2 years. We have a daughter named Campbell (no twitter account yet.) We live near the Summit in Birmingham, Alabama.
